Looking for an agency to spend a school year in Ireland, I found ELP Ireland. They spoke very well about the experience and after getting in contact with them, they found me a school and host family.
From the first day to now, I have been very happy with all aspects of the programme. I haven’t had any problems with my family or the people but I have the confidence to ask my ELP Ireland tutor for help or advice, if I need it.I really recommend having this experience not only for your English level that you will finish with at the end of the course but for the new things that you learn like a different culture, another way of doing things and another way of life.
I have spent a school year in Ireland. At the end of August, I went to have a new experience. The first weeks were so hard because I was meeting new people, I didn’t understand the language so well, despite having attended English classes for so many years, and I was also alone in a foreign country, but, I have the support of Richie, Claire and my Irish family.
After a while, I got used to Ireland, I started to make friends, participate in school activities and I started to feel good. However, it wasn’t until after Christmas that I started to feel practically Irish.
After 9 months, I can see a big change in myself. My English has improved a lot and now I can speak the language fluently and I have made friends for life.
Now, back home, I am sad but at the same time happy because I have had the best experience of my life that I could never have dreamed of.
Finally, I have to say that I will never forget anything about my Irish experience, nor the people with whom I have shared my time with there.
As well, I would like to say thanks to ELP Ireland because without them I couldn’t have had an experience like this, as they have supported me in at every moment.
If I have to speak about my stay in Ireland, I have to say that it is a positive experience if what you want is to speak English well.I have to add that the people are kind and this helps you to integrate easily. In conclusion and what is most important is that I am doing what I came here to do, which is to learn English.
My name is Judit and I’m 18 years old. In June, I did the Leaving Certificate in Ireland, but not only this, I also lived there for all the Leaving Certificate (Bachillerato). It has been the best experience of my life and I wouldn’t change it for anything!
They have been the best 2 years of my life. The people there are great and open, I have met many people and some of whom I have unconditional love for. I still continue in contact with my host family, where I was, and I tell them about how university is going, and my new job and they tell me about how everything is going. The teachers at school also helped me a lot and were always there when I needed help.
Ireland is a charming country and I fell in love with its landscapes form the first day, in fact, a few years from now I will go and live there! I loved going for a walk on the beach with the girls from the family for an hour or two.
Yes, it’s true that I missed my family and friends sometimes but in the end, I came home for holidays and it was like I had never left.
By going to Ireland, you develop as a person. If I could repeat these two years I would do it again and I’ll never forget what I experienced. Thanks to Richie and Claire for everything!
At the beginning it’s always hard because everything is in English and it takes some time to adapt to a new way of life. But, here in Ireland, the people are very friendly and hospitable, like my family, teachers, Richie and Claire. They all want to make sure that my experience here in Cork is unforgettable and that my level of English continues to improve.
With my family, I have had a lot of luck and although I’m not living with anybody of the same age, I have two younger sisters that always put a smile on my face.
The school is quite different from that in Spain, it’s an all-girls school and at the beginning, although they speak to you and ask many questions, there are some who are closed and I have had to open up to make new friends. Regarding my studies, I have to push myself a lot to be able to validate the course when I return home.
Thanks to this experience, I am maturing in all aspects, both in my English and in myself. I am meeting a lot of new people and making new friends from another country with a different way of life.
During these 9 months in Ireland I have learned and developed a lot as a person. At first I was very nervous because I did not know how my life would change. The uncertainty as to whether I would adapt to the family or if I would make friends at school, worried me a lot. I used to visualize my stay in Ireland very negatively, without friends and without understanding the language, but Richie and Claire always supported me and gave me very good advice.
Now I look back and I realize that the bad days did not last at all, compared to the good. I had a very good relationship with my family, I made friends very quickly and I always felt very comfortable thanks to all the people around me. I learned that what everyone said to me “with effort get things”, which was real and truly satisfying.
It is true that everything was very different from what I was used to, but that was one of the reasons, apart from learning English, why I went to spend a year abroad. It really could not have gone better, and in addition to learning to speak English as if it were my first language, I was very lucky to have such a fun family, some unforgettable friends and coordinators who were always there when I needed them.
A very nice and recommended experience for everyone.
We are the mothers of 15 & 16 year-old teenagers who have been in Skibbereen this 2019-2020 academic year, for Transition Year, with Richie and Claire (ELP). We are very appreciative of the treatment received from the first moment and especially during their Programme there. We want to emphasise their speed and effective management in reaction to the situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In every moment, daily, we were informed of the development of the situation in Ireland and the different options available for our daughters. Despite everything, the overall evaluation of their stay with their Irish families, school and their personal experience is very positive. It has been worth it!
A year which is more than interesting, both in terms of the personal experience and in the perfection of the English language. Our daughter studied Transition Year, the equivalent of 4th ESO, in Sacred Heart Clonakilty, living with a host family and feeling like one of themI have counted on the support of Richie, who as well has always been in constant contact with us. We recommend the experience for all young people who want to develop personally, experience a different way of life and to improve their English. Total confidence in the management of ELP Ireland. We are sure that Aina will never forget this course.
We are the parents of Laura who last year spent the school year in Ireland. Like all parents, we want the best for our children and with this in mind we decided that Laura would study abroad. The options that we searched, and there are many, but after studying them in detail, we chose and, without doubt, we decided on ELP Ireland. The reasons? Firstly, because, we must say that it is not a company but a couple who are dedicated to education, that have lived in Spain and who know our way very well. They care for every detail for our daughter so that she felt as comfortable as possible in another country, with another family and language, from the choice of the family to the school to whatever call. The exquisite following of my child’s development, the attention and continued care made everything easy. Our daughter, in fact, didn’t start well, but thanks to the constant support of Richie, we have seen that she has taken advantage and enjoyed every moment that she has experienced in Ireland, so much so that, as we write these lines, our daughter finds herself again there, enjoying herself with her friends and remembering an experience that, without doubt, has been very positive and she’ll have for the rest of her life.We can summarise with what she said to us when she returned home: “I’m excited to see you but not to come back”, and this satisifies us.If you would like to speak with us, you can ask for our number from Richie and you can ask us whatever you would like. Think that for our kids and at their age, it will be an unforgettable experience and very advantageous, don’t miss the chance. Take care
Hello!! I would like to explain my experience, as a parent, in relation to my 15-year-old daughter’s stay in Ireland during the 2015-16 School Course, with ELP Ireland.I found ELP Ireland through an internet search. Richard and Claire manage ELP with a personal treatment and the cared about my daughter, the choice of host family and they advised us like nobody else.We had a Skype interview and this was when we decided. My daughter spent the first trimestre there (August to December) and the price was excellent and Richard & Claire’s professionalism was magnificent.Without doubt, I recommend ELP to all parents and with my experience of 2 kids (one in Ireland and the other in the USA) the best age and course are 15-16 years and Transition Year, a course of Transition which they have, with a lot to gain with the language and little to lose in course materials.Thank you Richard & Claire
I am the mother of 3 kids and they have all done Programmes in Ireland. In addition, one of them studied the 1st trimester of 4th Year 2015-16 in Macroom and my youngest daughter studied the complete course of 4th Year 2019-20 in Macroom, as well. I have always believed that the best wat to learn a language is spending some time in that country. Thanks to the dedication that Richie has had at all times, the experiences for us have been 100% satisfactory. Good schools, wonderful host families where my kids adapted well from the first day. With ELP, the treatment was unforgettable, for their professionalism and their personalized attention. Don’t doubt in contacting me about whatever detail. Richie can pass on my details.
We sent our eldest son Miguel last year to Skibbereen and we are so happy with the experience that our daughter Emma is going this year. For a teenager it is a superb experience with much more pro’s than con’s. The hosting family, the teachers, the class-mates as well as the organization made Miguel feel like at home. The language barrier was overcome in Xmas and the personal experience will last forever. Thanks to ELP for its professionalism and dedication. Highly recommendable!
